Shop window displays

A shop window display that always shows the current offer.

Put your offers, new collection and opening hours on a display behind the glass. Schedule a promotion in advance and it appears on time, and disappears again. After closing time, show passers-by something different from what they see during the day.

The Sale campaign, New arrivals and Opening hours templates, in portrait with sample content.

Start with a portrait retail template.

Shop window displays usually hang in portrait. The retail templates come in portrait and landscape: a promotion, the product of the week, what has just come in. Swap the photos and prices for your own. Your brand colours, fonts and logo are ready in the editor.

Passers-by look for a few seconds.

What works well inside the shop is often too busy for the window. Three choices make the difference.

One message per page

The offer, the price and how long it runs. If you want to show more, make more pages and let them play one after another.

Readable from the pavement

Text you can read from a metre away inside is too small from the pavement. Use few words in large type and let a photo do the work.

On screen long enough

Set how long each page stays up. A page with a price and a date needs more time than a mood photo.

Rather not design it yourself? Tell Lumi, our AI designer, which promotion should go in the window and whether the display hangs in portrait or landscape. Lumi turns it into a page that you then adjust and publish yourself.

Lumi stays off until an owner turns it on, and owners and administrators can switch it off for the whole organisation. With Lumi off, nothing from your pages or prompts goes to Lumi’s AI providers.

The offer by day, your web shop by night.

People look at your window when the shop is closed too. Set in the playlist when each page plays, and the display switches by itself.

During opening hours

This week’s offer and what has just come in, for anyone who can still walk in.

After closing time

A QR code to your web shop and tomorrow’s opening hours. The QR code app is included in every plan.

For a set period

Schedule the sale or Black Friday between two dates. After the last day the promotion disappears and the regular content plays again.

These temporary opening hours are only shown from 19 to 30 July.
A playlist item with a schedule: only between 19 and 30 July.

One promotion in every window.

Give your window displays a tag, such as ‘Shop windows’, and create a campaign for every display with that tag. The promotion then plays alongside whatever each display already shows. You choose the start and end date, and the campaign stops by itself afterwards.

Do colleagues in the shops help out? With Team you decide for each colleague in which workspace they can view, edit or manage.

Which display goes in the window?

Behind glass, a display has more to cope with than on the shop floor. Look at three things when you choose one.

Bright enough for daylight

An ordinary TV or indoor display gives around 300 to 500 nits. With sun on the glass, that is often hard to read. Displays made for shop windows reach around 3,000 nits or more.

Lumicast without a separate player

Samsung’s window displays (OM series, running Tizen) and LG’s (XS series, webOS 4 or later) are professional displays that run the Lumicast app themselves. On other displays you connect a Pixie player over HDMI.

Built to stay on

Choose a display that is designed to stay on all day. If you want it off at night, set the on and off times in the display’s own menu.

Help with the display and mounting it.

We provide the software. For choosing, supplying and mounting a shop window display, we work with a nationwide network of resellers in the Netherlands. We can help you find one that suits your shop.

Practical questions.

Can I put an ordinary TV in the window?

Yes, in a window that gets little direct sunlight on the glass. Lumicast runs on supported Samsung smart TVs and Android TVs without a separate player; on other TVs you connect a Pixie player over HDMI. If the sun shines on the window during the day, an ordinary TV is often hard to read.

Should the display hang in portrait or landscape?

Either works. The retail templates come in both orientations. Choose what suits your window: portrait takes up less width and looks more like a poster.

Can I show video too?

Yes. Upload an MP4 file to your content library and add it to the playlist between your pages. By default a video plays for its own length.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Whatever is already on the display keeps playing. Changes come through as soon as the connection is back.

Do I need Solo or Team?

If you run the window yourself, Solo is enough: campaigns and scheduling pages are included. If colleagues help out or you want a workspace per shop, choose Team.

Can I try it first?

Yes. You can try Team free for 14 days, without payment details. Afterwards you decide whether to take out a subscription. Nothing is charged automatically.
