For LG Smart Signage running webOS

Digital signage on your LG webOS display

LG professional displays have webOS built in. Install the Lumicast app on the display itself and you don’t need a separate media player. The display fetches the app from a web address, with no USB stick. You then manage your content from your browser.

No payment details needed. For LG Smart Signage displays running webOS 4 or later.

What the app on your display takes care of.

The Lumicast app opens the player that plays your pages. You set it as the display’s own app, so the display shows your content as soon as it is switched on.

Starts with the display

Switch the display on and Lumicast opens by itself. Nobody has to pick an app with the remote.

Always the latest player

The app on the display loads the player from our servers, so new versions arrive on their own. You never have to reinstall the app.

Waits for the network

After a power cut, the display often starts before the router does. So the app waits up to 30 seconds for an internet connection before it starts the player.

Keeps playing if the internet drops

Content stored on the display keeps playing when the connection drops. New content arrives once it is back.

See which displays are working

Lumicast shows for each display whether it is online, which playlist it is showing and that it runs on LG webOS.

No USB stick needed

You enter one address in the display’s server menu, and the display downloads the app itself. Do the same on the next display.

What you need

LG makes professional displays for digital signage, called LG Smart Signage. They run webOS, so the player runs on the display itself. All you need is:

  • An LG Smart Signage display running webOS 4 or later
  • Internet over a network cable or Wi-Fi
  • The display’s remote, to open the server menu

An LG TV or another display?

An LG TV for home use doesn’t have this server menu. Connect a separate player instead, such as our Pixie for a one-off €150 excluding VAT. Lumicast also runs on Samsung and Philips professional displays, on Android and Fire TV, and on a computer.

On the remote, press Home or Settings and go to SI Server Setting.

  2. Fill in the settings

Set the fields as shown below, from top to bottom. At Local Application Upgrade, press REMOTE and the display downloads the app. Then restart the display.

  3. Pair your display with Lumicast

After the restart, Lumicast opens and shows a pairing code. Add a display in Lumicast and enter that code.

What does digital signage on an LG display cost?

The player runs on the display itself, so there is no media player to buy. Lumicast is a subscription per display.

From €17 per display per month, billed annually, excluding VAT.

Questions about LG displays.

Will it work on my LG display?

If your LG Smart Signage display runs webOS 4 or later, you can install the Lumicast app. Not sure about your model? Ask us and we’ll check it with you.

Does it work on a regular LG TV?

Not with this app. An LG TV for home use doesn’t have SI Server Setting. Connect a separate player to it over HDMI instead, such as our Pixie or a Fire TV stick.

Do I still need a media player?

No. The app runs on the display itself. You only need a separate player if you want to show heavier content than the display can handle.

Do I have to install updates myself?

No. The app on the display loads the player from our servers, so new versions arrive on their own. You never have to reinstall the app.

Will the display keep playing without internet?

Locally stored content can keep playing. New content and data arrive once the connection returns. Web pages, streams and other content that relies on the internet may not work fully offline.

Can I show videos and dashboards?

Yes. Text, images, apps and video up to HD run well on the display’s built-in webOS. For 4K video or heavy dashboards with lots of animation, a separate player has more processing power. Try your own content on the display you plan to use.

Do I need a subscription?

You can try Lumicast free for 14 days without payment details. After that, choose a subscription per display. Without a subscription, your workspace remains available, but your displays stop playing.
