For Philips professional displays

Digital signage on your Philips display

Philips professional displays have Android built in. Install the Lumicast app on the display itself and you don’t need a separate media player. The app starts with the display, and you manage your content from your browser.

No payment details needed. For Philips displays running Android 5 or later.

What the app takes care of.

The Lumicast app is the player that shows your pages. On a Philips display you set it as the fixed source, so the display shows your content as soon as it is switched on.

Starts with the display

Switch the display on and Lumicast opens by itself. Nobody needs to pick an app with the remote.

Comes back by itself

If the app stops unexpectedly, for example after a system update, it brings itself back on screen.

Updates from the app

Install a new version from the app’s menu, or turn on automatic updates and the app keeps itself up to date.

Keeps playing offline

Content stored on the display keeps playing if the internet drops. New content arrives as soon as the connection is back.

See which displays are working

Lumicast shows whether each display is online and which playlist it is playing.

One USB stick for every display

The setup package puts the app and its settings on the display in one go. Use the same stick to set up the next display.

Philips displays run the Lumicast Android app, which is how they appear in the overview, with their status and playlist.

What you need

Philips makes professional displays for digital signage. They run Android, so the player runs on the display itself. All you need is:

  • A Philips professional display running Android 5 or later
  • A USB stick of at least 1 GB that can be wiped
  • Internet through a network cable or Wi-Fi
  • The display’s remote control

A different display?

Lumicast also runs on Samsung and LG professional displays, on Android and Fire TV, and on a computer. Does your display only have HDMI? Connect a separate player, such as our Pixie for a one-off €150 excluding VAT.

How to set up Lumicast on your Philips display.

The setup package on a USB stick puts the app and its settings on the display in one go. This resets the display to its factory settings.

  1. Put the package on a USB stick

Format a USB stick as FAT32 and unzip the setup package onto it.

  2. Reset the display and import

Insert the stick into the service USB port. Open the admin menu with HOME and 1888 and reset the display to its factory settings. Then choose Import Signage Display Settings from USB.

  3. Connect your display to Lumicast

After the restart, Philips’ Wave app opens first: skip it. Lumicast starts next. Add a display in Lumicast and enter the pairing code shown on your display.

Rather not reset the display?

Install the app yourself instead. You allow installs from unknown sources, download the app on the display and set Lumicast as the app the display opens and restarts.

Combine text, images, videos and apps on your page. Start with a template, design it yourself or ask Lumi, our AI designer, for help. Then choose which displays show your page and when.

What does digital signage on a Philips display cost?

The player runs on the display itself, so there is no media player to buy. Lumicast is a subscription per display.

From €17 per display per month, billed annually, excluding VAT.

Questions about Philips displays.

Will it work on my Philips display?

If your Philips professional display runs Android 5 or later, you can install the Lumicast app. Not sure about your model? Ask us and we’ll check it with you.

Do I still need a media player?

No. The app runs on the display itself. You only need a separate player if your display doesn’t run Android, or if you want to show heavier content than the display can handle.

Will I lose my settings during installation?

Installing from the USB stick resets the display to its factory settings. If you’d rather avoid that, install the app manually and set Lumicast as the app the display opens yourself.

Do I need to install updates myself?

Turn on automatic updates in the app’s menu and the app keeps itself up to date. Otherwise, the same menu shows when an update is available and lets you install it.

Will the display keep playing without internet?

Locally stored content can keep playing. New content and data arrive once the connection returns. Web pages, streams and other content that relies on the internet may not work fully offline.

Can I show videos and dashboards?

Yes. Text, images, apps and video up to HD run well on the display’s built-in Android. For 4K video or heavy dashboards with lots of animation, a separate player has more processing power. Try your own content on the display you plan to use.

Do I need a subscription?

You can try Lumicast free for 14 days without payment details. After that, choose a subscription per display. Without a subscription, your workspace remains available, but your displays stop playing.

Try it on your own Philips display.
